When Gladys was a little girl she loved her special occasion dresses because they were always frilly and/or lacy and had wide skirts that rose when she twirled. One afternoon at home, when preschool was Gladys Perezover and with time on her hands before Mami got home (and no plans to attend a party or church), those clothes that had always seemed lonely to Gladys, beckoned to her. "They're dying to be worn," she justified to herself as she remembered: these clothes were for special occasions only. Dum de dum dum! Racking her four year-old brain, she hit upon a solution. She'd put on a show! Twirling, dancing, singing and basically being a ham, came very easily to her. So she set her skills to music and dressed in all her finery - and, as long as she kept 'em clean, never got into trouble for wearing her party dresses at home.

Well, that was the foundation of her performing career, and while Gladys doesn't always wear party clothes, she always appreciates what a great skirt can do for her.
